Home Advantage – supporting Durham Cricket
Banks Group is proud to become the principal partner of Durham Cricket in a major new sponsorship agreement. This exciting partnership includes naming rights to the iconic Riverside ground — now known as the Banks Homes Riverside Stadium — and will see our branding featured across team kits and the ground itself. The Banks Group connection with Durham Cricket goes back more than 30 years and this new chapter builds on a long tradition of support. From helping to establish the club’s under-19 team in the late 1980s to backing grassroots cricket and junior player development ever since, we’ve shared a commitment to supporting communities and nurturing local talent. Just like our homes, this partnership is proudly placed for perfection—rooted in shared values, and focused on building a better future together.
Renewables
Our renewables business was created in 2005 and since then has seen strong growth with a number of wind, solar and battery projects consented, built and operated.
In December 2023, the renewables business was sold to Brookfield Global Asset Management and rebranded as OnPath Energy to continue its growth in the renewable energy sector.
The significant capital receipt has offered the opportunity to further expand our Property and Homes businesses.

Our strength lies in taking a thoughtful, strategic approach to residential development working with many national and regional housebuilders. We’re proud to be recognised as a trusted, go-to developer in the North East and over the past five years we’ve grown significantly in Yorkshire, bringing our experience and dedication to even more communities.
Mining
Banks Mining is the original business of the group. We have successfully developed, operated and restored over 115 surface mines across the UK gaining an enviable reputation as a leading engager with local communities and for maintaining class-leading efficient operations. Banks Mining also created Northumberlandia, a unique landform sculpture as part of the restoration of the Shotton Surface Mine in Northumberland. Banks Mining continues to operate mines for multi-national companies.
