Meet Phil – Our New Sales Manager at Banks Homes

As our team continues to grow, we’re delighted to welcome Phil as our new Sales Manager at Banks Homes. With more than 20 years of experience in the new homes industry, Phil brings a wealth of knowledge, a hands-on approach, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

We sat down with Phil to find out more about his career so far, what drew him to Banks Homes, and his hopes for the future.

Tell us a little bit about your background and what led you to your new role at Banks Homes.

I started in housebuilding back in 2002, working my way up from Sales Advisor to Sales Manager within a couple of years at Avant Homes. I then spent nine years at Miller Homes in the same role.

I’ve always been aware of Banks Group – most housebuilders have purchased land from them over the years – so when I saw Banks Homes launching, it caught my attention. Having worked with Aisling (Banks Head of Sales and Marketing) previously and knowing the company’s reputation, I was excited by the opportunity. The culture, the product, and the specification all stood out to me. Add to that the potential for strong land opportunities, and it felt like the right next step.

What attracted you to Banks Homes – and what excites you most about joining?

Banks Homes felt like a real breath of fresh air. There’s a clear focus on the customer and quality over just chasing numbers, which is sadly quite rare in the industry.

The company culture was a huge draw for me – along with the spec and build quality of the homes. It’s refreshing to see a business that genuinely puts the customer experience at the centre of everything.

What are your first impressions of the business so far?

Honestly, I’ve been blown away by how friendly and welcoming everyone has been. It’s clear that people enjoy working here – and many have been with the company for a long time, which says a lot.

Personally, I’ve never been one to move around between housebuilders too often. I prefer to build something long-term – and everything I’ve seen so far tells me that Banks Homes is exactly the kind of place where that’s possible.

How do you see Banks Homes growing in the coming years – and what’s your role in that?

We’ve got a fantastic product, and with the land we’ve secured – and continue to secure – I see huge potential for growth across both the North East and Yorkshire.

My role is to help drive that growth through a strong sales strategy, starting with developments like Cathedral Meadows and upcoming sites in Yarm and Wynyard. I’m joining at a brilliant time, and I’m excited to help shape the next phase of the Banks Homes story.

What are your top priorities in your first few months?

Initially, I’m focused on getting to grips with our live developments and supporting the teams on the ground. I’ll be spending a lot of time out on site – working closely with our Sales Executives, particularly Helen – and making sure I’m as present and accessible as possible.

Building strong relationships with the team and understanding the detail of each site will help set us up for success moving forward.

What’s your leadership style – and how do you like to support your team?

For me, leadership is all about teamwork. It might sound simple, but working as a team is key to success in this industry.

I’m very hands-on. I like to lead by example, get involved early, and support the team however I can. I expect the same strong work ethic from my team that I hold myself to – but above all, I believe we achieve the best results when we work together.

A few quick-fire questions before we wrap up…

Biscuit or chocolate of choice with a cuppa?

Definitely a KitKat Chunky with a hot cup of tea.

If you could have a superpower to help in your role, what would it be?

I’d love to be able to instantly generate proceedable leads – that would be the dream!

But if I had to pick a real superpower, it would probably be mind reading. In sales, that would be a game-changer… you’d know straight away who’s serious and who’s not!

Final thoughts

I’m genuinely excited to be part of Banks Homes. From the product to the people, there’s something really special about this business – and I’m looking forward to helping it grow.

“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Phil to the Banks Homes team,” says Aisling Ramshaw, Head of Sales and Marketing.

“His experience, passion for the industry, and collaborative approach make him a fantastic fit for our business as we continue to grow. With exciting developments launching across the region, now is the perfect time to strengthen our sales leadership – and Phil is already bringing real energy and insight to the role. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

At Banks Homes, we know it’s our people who make the difference – and we can’t wait to see the impact Phil will have as we continue to build better places for people to live.
